Poem a day challenge...

Day 5 Prompt: Landmark

The Wailing Wall - Ha Kotel

Folded notes between the stones
at the mercy of sun wind and rain
reverent hope that not one word
will fail to make it home

~~

I thought about writing on an Australian landmark and there are plenty to choose from. Instead I chose the Wailing Wall (Ha Kotel) at the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. I have visited this awesome landmark twice and have placed a prayer between those stones on my second visit. It was an experience I will never forget.

Love,

  3. Very nice poem! What a great experiment :)

In another note-I thought of you at school today. My students were doing their journal and the question was what country would they visit and why. Well, I got many more Australia's than I expected! I tried playing devil's advocate and reminding them of a few of the nasties down there (snakes, spiders) but all they could think of were koalas! Oh we optimistic Texans! lol
    Have a good one :)

  4. Isn't it amazing how there are certain places where you can feel the power and the presence of God. This poem makes me want to travel to an area of the world I would never dare to visit.

  5. Remarkable. Truly. Especially the last couplet.

  6. Love the image of the notes being left at the mercy of the elements, makes me think how we too are left at the mercy of things out of our control and pray for help to weather them.
Great job, Eaton. Although I did expect an Australian landmark out of you. LOL E
