Poem a day challenge...55 Flash Fiction Friday

Day 23 Prompt: Regret

Trapped
in a cycle of
personal punishment

round and round
circling the mind

layer upon layer
of self doubt and
recriminations

blind to anything
but grief and hurt

depression slyly
ready to take hold

dwell in the past
settle for less
never for more

how to get off
this selfish
destructive ride

let regret go

  5. Eaton,
Wow - you were telling my story.

For me, Alcoholics Anonymous followed by Al-Anon have allowed me to "let regret go" for the most part and actually live life with joy.

Thanks for this "Fabulous Flash Fiction Friday" 55.
