Who knows what goes on in the mind of a...

person who writes poetry? I wonder where stuff comes from that is insistent on being written. There's perfectly good, uplifting, inspiring things to write about, but no, this 55 had to have it's say.

Have a great Friday everyone. :)

Sarcasm
spawned in spite
choked out
from under a
collar and leash
tritely delivered
with educated
expertise

laid waste on the
altar of artlessness
spilled from marble lips
useless in their
profanity

a bitter voice
hidden behind
slick words
delivered in
slippery soliloquy

spewed from that
sad, lofty
Ivory tower...

a mean and
jealous spirit.

Thursday Thirteen - 8th Week of the New TT!

Thirteen photos of Melbourne from a bridge

This weeks Thursday Thirteen is brought to you, by me
traveling across the Westgate Bridge, by car. This bridge
collapsed in 1971, killing 35 workmen, injuring many and
scaring me out of my wits. I've found the easiest way for me
to passenger across this bridge is to take photos out the
car window and windscreen. That way I don't have to think
about actually being on that bridge. I don't like to drive
across it either, but we do what we have to do...

The photos below are a collection of a number of trips
from one side of Melbourne to the other. I love that
photography absorbs me. I get so caught up in it that
I honestly forget about how high that bridge is and
how far it once fell.

Happy TT everyone. :)

55 words of poetry...

on friday, compose a short story of 55 words - no more,
no less. if you want to join in the fun and give it a
try...post your story and report it to G-man

movement

in the shadows
slow,
deliberate

the still of night
disturbed on a
sigh

discarded clothes
rustle to the floor,
an edgy silence
broken

you've come
as promised

have I made
a mistake?

reassure me

ease my jagged
nerves; soothe
me

with a sharp
twist of
silk

bind me

with the
illusion of your
touch

Thursday Thirteen - 7th Week of the New TT!

My thoughts for this weeks TT strayed to Vincent van Gogh.
I like his art; a lot. His life is equally as interesting. Mid way
down this blog you will find a poem by me. It has minimal
words and that was the challenge, to see how much of his story
I could fit into a few short words. Happy TT! :)

Victorian Fire Update...

Several blogger friends have asked for updates on the
Victorian situation. I did find a link to the Australian Age, which gives updates as of yesterday 13/02/09.

At the bottom of this post is a map of the fires still burning and the stages of control they are in. I was staggered to see the huge list of fires when I clicked on the link. I knew there were a large number of fires, but I had no idea just how many. Please click on this Link, it will take you to the larger map and an actual list of the fires.

Last night as I was leaving work for home, I was shocked
to see the moon ORANGE and glowing...so much smoke
in the sky that it had completely altered the color of the
moon. I tried to get a photo of it, but there were too many
street lights in the way. I managed to get a very poor shot
between the foliage of a large tree and although you can't
see the actual shape of the moon, it's distorted at best.
You sure can see the color...and that stopped me in my
tracks.

The smell of smoke fresh and old is hanging in the air
outside our home today and all of Melbourne. Actually,
it's in our home as well. Even though I knew the fires
were a horrible reality, the smoke is a reality check all
on its own. No denying we have fires here. I took a
couple of shots down the road from our home to show
the smoke has collected in a low lying pocket.

But to my knowledge no one is in danger because they
don't know about these fires, those in the fire areas are
either not there anymore, or not in danger at this point.

This Link and the one above has further information
that you may find of interest, especially my fireman mate Ric, this link,
I think will interest you. xxooxx.

Thank you to everyone who has read my blogs on the
fire and thought of and prayed for all our firefighting
people and the victims. And a very special mark of
gratitude to countries that have offered aid and their
firefighters to help us out. America and New Zealand
have offered man power - Thank you!

Thursday Thirteen - 6th Week of the New TT!

Thirteen random sky shots I've taken in the last two months. Today's thirteen is a bit lazy, but that's how I'm feeling today. Hope every one is having a great Thursday. Happy TT! :)

How beautiful are our skies, aren't they amazing!
