Wordless Wednesday

*Click on this pic, otherwise you won't see exactly what it is that I was focusing on...

I can't leave this one completely wordless, it's unusual! The very rough looking wall in this dress shop is the side of a hill, untouched and raw.

I'm leaving, please don't let me...

on friday, compose a short story of 55 words - no more,
no less. if you want to join in the fun and give it a
try...post your story and report it to G-man

I was listening to Duffy while thinking about a 55 to write. This woman is inspirational, her voice seems to reach inside me, reminds me of things...some good, some bad, some bloody awful. But I got a 55 out of the memories.

How come years and years after the fact, some memories can still bring us undone? I guess the time factor, forgiveness and love helps us to leave the past in the past.

I was listening to I'm Scared in my side bar, when I wrote this 55...

Standing in the circle of your arms
here to say goodbye...
never look back

the touch of your hand
the piteous look in your eyes

It's over and I'm barely holding on

you're going to let me walk out that
door
you won't even blink when it slams

It's over and I'm barely holding on

I know this reads sad, but it really was a very long time ago and that takes the sting out of the memory. It could almost have been someone else's life I was remembering. Memories eh-- every body's got 'em!

Have a great Friday everyone! :)

Happy Ruby Tuesday! :)

Love,

Good morning...

Without looking up World Time Server, I figure it must be somewhere between 1.00am and 3.00am on your side of the world. So...good morning to the Northern hemisphere!

I received this pic in an email a couple of days ago and it appealed to my sense of humor. Figured it might appeal to y'all as well. I will, hopefully be asleep when you wake, brew coffee and get yourselves ready for the day. You have been on my mind tonight while I had a quick look at some of your blogs...later when the house is quiet I hope to read some more and leave a personal hello. Have a wonderful day everyone!

55 Flash Fiction Friday...

on friday, compose a short story of 55 words - no more,
no less. if you want to join in the fun and give it a
try...post your story and report it to G-man

I'm late, I'm late, nearly always late. But I'm here and so is my 55. Have a great hope your Friday was wonderful!

dreams of white picket fences
pretty things and sweet perfection
drift through the mind of a star
gazer

Hopes and aspirations come to life as
the moon rises in its ellipse

despair born of day light dramas fade
childhood fears of the dark dwindle
while being drawn by the allure of a
star filled night

Thursday Thirteen - 11th Week of the New TT

This week I traveled around the net borrowing pictures
from here and there and some places I hadn't been before.
The idea is to give you a peek into my sense of humor.
Maybe what brings a smile to my face and makes me laugh will do the same for you.

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone.

Happy TT! :)

Rain...lots and lots of rain.

Friday and Saturday we had rain in Melbourne. Lots of rain,
tropical rain, thunder and lightning. In the last three months
we have had virtually no rain. A couple of tiny showers only,
but this was a Tropical down pour. I estimate it took the front
to move in and drop those huge, big fat rain drops about 20
minutes.

I took the first three photos of the sky as the storm was brewing
and the last photo is of those big fat raindrops falling on a glass
top table in the back garden. Unless you click on the photo you
won't see just how beautiful the rain bouncing off the glass is.
It looks like tiny glass crowns or coronets scattered across the
glass.

Click on the pic to enlarge...the raindrops are gorgeous!

Melbourne used to be a very wet city, I remember it
always drizzling with rain once winter got started. But it
has been a very long time since we had winters like that.
I wonder if this winter will be very wet. I can only hope. :)

55 Flash Fiction Friday...

It's 1.30am and yes I'm going to bed as soon as I click publish. This poem makes sense right now...hopefully it still will when I get up in the morning. Have a great Friday everyone!

Imagine a dream
playing in your
head

can you see me in your
dream--in the
dark of your night
do you recognize me

am I just a dream
enriching your shadow
coloring the black
and white of your mind

leaning across the bed
listening to you breathe
reaching out to
touch you--do you know me

Thursday Thirteen - 10th Week of the New TT!

I already clicked select all and then delete on my first attempt at this weeks Thursday Thirteen. I'm a bit stuck for inspiration. Several ideas have come and gone leaving me less than excited.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do now, is going to be any more exciting than my first idea. But, who knows maybe it will be a winner...maybe!

I gathered 13 books laying around the room, on my desk, the bookshelf and in my bag. I thought I would give you the first line in each book and see how they weighed up against each other. Boring, quite possibly or possibly not. But it's all I got this morning.

1...Abigail Carstairs feared for her life: a situation which negated much of the pleasure she might otherwise have taken from making her curtsy to the ton.

2...No one is staring at you, I promised myself. No one is staring at you. No one is staring at you.
(I read this book towards the end of last year and I don't remember this opening sentence.)

3...Something was wrong. Heart Beating wildly, Modesty Breck sat up in bed.

4...Once upon a time there was a nice big girl named Laura.

5...There was no possibility of taking a walk that day .

6...He watched her coming. (This has possibilities...)

7...Just because I know how to change a guy's oil doesn't mean I want to spend the rest of my life on my back, staring up his undercarriage.

8...The front door slammed.

9...China, Japan, Persia and Arabia - indeed most of the world's greatest cultures - have a long tradition of erotic literature.

10..The car moved through the night, the two occupants staring silently out the windshield as the road unfolded before them .

11..Where does the wind begin? (From a really creepy book, just reading these five words made me feel that creepiness all over again)

12..The Shreveport Vampire Bar would be opening late tonight.

13..I felt like I was trapped in one of those terrifying nightmares, the one where you have to run, run till your lungs burst, but you can't make your body move fast enough.

~

If you have taken notice of my emoticon placements you will have worked out which 'first' lines appealed to me. As I read each line and typed it, I wondered how we ever actually get beyond some of these first lines. There must be something that promises a good read.

For me it's the covers, a known author and/or a catchy title. I'm most interested in hearing from ya'all to find out what inspires you to read a book.

Happy TT! :)
