I couldn't resist posting this crazy bunch of photos...who would do this to their dogs, I ask you? Humiliation or extreme love or just plain nuts? I had to pass this on, couldn't take the risk of the above happening. :))

Poem a day challenge...second last day!

Day 29 Prompt: Never...

Never be the same
Words fell from my mouth
I couldn't stop them
realities you didn't expect

I hadn't considered the
impact
not one thought at all

never be the same
echoes in my head

thing is

I don't believe I would
alter a word even if it
changed your mind

sadly from a distance
I remain most tenderly
yours
~~

I submitted the poem with the crossed out lines in it. When I blogged the poem I realized I didn't like those two lines, but they connect the poem to the prompt.
~sigh~ :)

Poem a day challenge...sestina

Day 28 Prompt: sestina or an anti sestina poem
- Guess which one I chose!
(sestina is a form of poetry, highly formatted and mathematically challenging :) )

Mercy Please

It's getting late
I have a poem to write
a sestina of all things
let me tell you Robert
I don't think so
in fact it's a no go
I've read what it takes
to write one of these
there isn't a hope no
none what so ever
not today or tomorrow
maybe never
I'm a free loving woman
free verse that is
no rules or complicated
format in me
if it needs an excel sheet
it's beyond my capability
seriously there is not a
hope that I will do this
not today or tomorrow
maybe never

Poem a day challenge... Longing

Day 27 Prompt: Longing

Longing
knots the stomach
strings emotions out
edges nerve endings
close to panic
bleeds from the heart
holds onto hope
even when there is
none

Poem a day challenge...Misunderstanding

Day 26 Prompt: Misunderstanding

International
phone
conversation
a misunderstanding
lovers continents apart
haven't seen each
other in months

he's in Sweden
she's in Tokyo

he called to tell her
he missed her
the call was a day late

she got mad as hell
didn't believe his flimsy
excuse

now he wants her back
she just might accept
who knows
maybe it would work

as long as he doesn't
call her

Poem a day challenge...only 5 days to go!

Day 25 Prompt: Event

You stepped out of the
shadows
eyes cool
professional
your face a mask
of self protection

I saw through your
game of intimidation

your eyes said one thing
your body begged another

you were not immune to
the heat of the moment

as your hands closed
gently around my throat
and your words whispered
through my mind

I knew I hadn't
misunderstood
your true intention

traces of your scent
still fill my room
and
tomorrow
brings with it the
possibility of your return

Poem a day challenge...Day 24

Rain on the window

Day 24 Prompt: Travel

The times I have longed to meet you face to face
Reduces me to tears. I wish I could turn into a vapor
Anchor myself to the wind and fly across the sea
Valued words we share are hidden in my heart
Eventually each day way into the night I find myself
Longing to see you through my reflection in your eyes

Poem a day challenge...55 Flash Fiction Friday

Day 23 Prompt: Regret

Trapped
in a cycle of
personal punishment

round and round
circling the mind

layer upon layer
of self doubt and
recriminations

blind to anything
but grief and hurt

depression slyly
ready to take hold

dwell in the past
settle for less
never for more

how to get off
this selfish
destructive ride

let regret go

Poem a day challenge...what do I do for a living?

Day 22 Prompt: Work related
Hungry
impatient
people
waiting
drooling

pizza and pasta
can't bring
it any faster

kids everywhere
parents don't care
see them climbing
over the chairs

drinks crash
food splashes
ice cream squishes
on the floor

hurry get those
kids out the door

oh no not
another table
I don't think
I'm able...

Poem a day challenge...Day 20!

Day 20 Prompt: Rebirth

Winter wraps colorless
hands around days
turning them dull and gray

wind rain and snow beat
against frigid nights
as nature shivers

the elements play out
against one another in
tiresome repetition

while thoughts of sun filled
days flutter impatiently
waiting

winter reluctantly draws
back its shroud as spring
unrolls its velvet cloak
reviving and renewing
all in its wake

Day 19 Prompt: Anger

The impetus behind
this dark and
nasty smile

anger
hot and furious

hidden
not at all

taking flight
definitely

aimed
absolutely

but not at you :)
~~

I have some kind of flu bug, aching all over and miserable!

Poem a day challenge...

Day 18 Prompt: Interaction

Her face pale and full of
uncertainty
blue eyes searching green

His face grim
rigid with decision

she: Why

he: Because I don't
feel the same

she: But I do
please we can work
it out

he: No
I don't love you anymore

he gave her all the reasons
hurt her to the quick

he: I'll take you home

she: turned and walked away

Poem a day challenge...

Day 17 Prompt: "All I want is ..."

All I want is to close my eyes
and reach for you
then I wouldn't need to search
my dreams for your face

If I could feel your arms around
me and know you're there
sleep would cocoon me contentedly
in the dark

Let me snuggle into the contours
of your body and hear the soft
sigh of your breath on my skin
then I would know I am safe

All I want is reassurance
from your touch to chase away
my ghosts

Poem a day challenge...55 Flash Fiction Friday

This poem is my 55 and Poem a day offering. :)

Day 16 Prompt: Color
an invitation with promise
Welcome to life's colorful
possibilities

work and wages
equality for all

pack your clothes
shed your tears
say your goodbyes

a dream forming on
the horizon

war and hunger's
devilish memories
dismissed
to be forgotten

new reality:
the first footstep on
foreign soil

many dazzling colors
in an Immigrant's
rainbow future

Poem a day challenge...

Day 15 Prompt: Change someone's poem

I chose a poem by Charles Bukowski, to change, poor Charles! I think I butchered it...heck, I know I butchered it. I added the link in the title of the original poem below. The original is worth a read if you have a moment or two.

Accompanied by Just Enough

the words cover the space
and they put a comma
in there and
sometimes a full stop,
and the men paste
consonants in blank spaces
and the women write too
much
and everybody forgets a
question mark
but keep on
searching
hunting in and out
of books.
words cover
the lines and the
page turns
into more than
a chapter.

there's every chance:
that a manuscript will be
printed into numerous
editions.

everybody always has
too many words.

the publisher is ready
the bookshop ready
the library ready
the bookshelves ready
the readers eyes ready

Just print
it.

Poem a day challenge...

Day 14 Prompt: Love

Between the first kiss
and erotic bliss
love stole through my
defenses

messed with my head
played my emotions
stupefied my senses

and confounded me with
the perfection of
being loved

Poem a day challenge...

Day 13 Prompt: Hobby
It appears I am silent
totally still
viewing the world through
my lens

not true

although I am standing still
barely a flicker of movement
my head is busy
full of possibilities
weighing up a shot
the position of the subject
shapes light and color

I am caught in the moment
lost in anticipation of the
capture
the possibility of perfection

Poem a day challenge...

Day 12 Prompt: "So we decided to..."

Love disconnected...

So we decided to call it quits
end this charade we call love
leave behind our sweet beginnings
and promises of

"It will never end..."

go our separate ways
to the music of our generation
a lingering hauntingly sad refrain
played and sung in the minor key

against all hope we've joined this
chorus in our decision to be free

~~

Edit: This isn't personal guys...just written for the prompt. :)
