it's always Heaven's night...

cold air assaults my skin
heightens my senses as I step
onto the sidewalk inhaling
rain cleared air

little mirrors of refracted light
catch my eye -
puddles of celestial reflections

there’s not a breath of wind
no familiar rustle of leaves on leafless
trees: silent sentinels in this quiet night

gaudy pink clouds ride the sky,
they look like cotton candy - far off
untouchable - neon cities never rest*

It’s not truly dark here, like
out the farmhouse backdoor,
I feared what might hide in that
deep, hungry, darkness.

this clear moment overwhelms me,
I only have a few minutes before the
world weighs restively on my shoulders
it’s always like that, only a moments respite

I love the crystal clarity of this night
I’m enveloped in private accord with heaven
my thoughts run free
I know monsters live in the dark, but there are none
not in this moment of enlightened darkness

Love,

Eaton.

  2. Beautifully said, Eaton. I feel like I'm standing in a doorway, looking into a bright, rain-scrubbed day. You inspire me.
