Diametrical Beauty  -  October

half a world away, a northern autumn moon shivers
in anticipation of winter's plans to cover her hills
and valleys in a cold white blanket

leaves dance and swirl to the gusts of fall winds,
blowing away the residue of summer's exhausted
heat faded days

and while the breath of the north wind is preparing
to freeze its lands and seas, a startling southern sun
begins to warm a path to the water's edge

hungry waves cover shallow footprints like watery
hands, as the sea rushes back into itself with its
imagined catch

blue skies and fluffy clouds ruffled by a gentle
spring breeze watch lazy waves coax summer out
of her long sleep.

  3. Beautiful words and images evoked and so very true - one area faces the impending cold, the other the unfolding of the warmth.

  6. The North with the cold, and the South warming up. Your poem creates a beautiful picture of the world. Your template is also pleasing. Love both.

  11. I really enjoyed how you juxtapositioned the contrasting beauty of the two hemispheres. Sometimes we're so egocentric that we forget to recall that down under autumn is not the same. Loved it and wonderfully written.
