intrusion

I stood in your walled enclave
this collective dead man’s ghetto
I worried that I had caught your faces
on my camera
frame by frame
but when I looked
nothing -
no bones no pinch of skin
no remains
nothing
                 captured on any frame

I thought I heard your murmurings
your underwhelmed sighs
I don’t want to hear your stories
too many voices to see with my eyes

overwhelmed I walked away
leaving the tapestries of your lives
woven in the masonry patchwork
sewn on dead men's ground -
I left you beyond the lies.

love,
Eaton

  2. This really caught my attention, since I recently took a bunch of cemetery shots. Sometimes I wonder if the dead know I'm there taking pictures.

Great pic, by the way. Some of my shots would look great with that technique.

  4. We surely do at times, Shadow. Lovely to see you. :))

Bubba, I found myself apologizing for stepping on what might have been old graves...an odd reaction I thought, it sparked the poetry.

Thank ladyfi, great you got to see and read. Thanks for the visit. :)

  5. Very imaginative..I passed a cemetery yesterday but it wasn't like the kind I've seen in the movies..and nothing like (Back To Black) (lol) Hawaii can certainly be an odd place..sort of stuck back in time? Anyway, I too like the image..wishing you a wonderful week Eaton!

  6. Viva la difference! I guess it's the differences that give us the travel bug, the restless desire to see just how other people do things. You have a great week too, Regina. :))

  7. Eaton,
This was a beautiful poem. I love the mood and atmosphere on the poem. I like the hush and almost murmur like quality of your poem.
I especially love that part on having capture nothing...
