flowers in her hair

the sign read
Sweet Pea Paddock Road
I wonder if  flowers
fill the field
pale pinks - blues
myriad hues
if the scent of
that many flowers
hangs heavy-
a perfumed weight
or a delicate scent
I want to follow
the narrow road
see for myself what a
sweet pea paddock
looks like
smells like
instead I'm savoring
the imagined images
just in case
Sweet Pea Paddock
wouldn't meet my expectation.

  1. I too have found that at times it is better to live with the expectation of what something might be as opposed to what it is.

Nice tight piece of poetry. Thank you.
