Thursday Thirteen - 155th Edition

Thirteen things about Eaton

There are thirteen places in the world I would like to visit. Certainly there are some that bounce right of the top of my head. But I think there might be some I had not even considered until I noticed the feedjit link on a website I visited recently. I now have that small map of the world on the side bar next to this meme. I was looking at it yesterday and thought wow, people from all these places have visited my blog. It gave me the idea of '13 places' I would like to visit.

1....England: I would love to see all the castles and old homes. Not to mention the thatched roofed cottages and the country lanes. My father's family are from England originally, so I guess it is natural to want to investigate the country they came from.

2....France: I am fascinated by French history and the romance of Paris. The louvre would be the first place on my list, followed by Versailles and of course the Eiffel Tower. Provence is on that list too. My hubby is enjoying the live telecasts of the Tour De France and the countryside
is beautiful. Coffee in a Parisian Cafe sounds very appealing right now.

3....Holland: The Canals and waterways of Holland would be my pick for that country. Boat rides travelling the waterways appeals to me. The houses in Amsterdam, the quaint ones with all the different roof lines interest me too.

4....Germany: My hubby is from Germany and he still has relatives there. I can picture a romantic journey through his homeland. His home town is Flensburg, on the northern coast very close to...

5....Denmark: All the Scandinavian countries fascinate me. I have been to Sweden and loved it. It snowed the night we arrived and that was a special experience that I can still picture so clearly in my mind. Thoughts of Vikings and long boats come to mind as well, the stuff of many novels.

6....Italy: Venice and her waterways, old houses and history. I have been to Rome for a few hours and saw the Trevi Fountain, not nearly enough, still hungry to see more.

7....Spain: Flamenco Dance and music are among my favorites. I could probably stand to see a couple of handsome young Matadors as well. But I really long to go to Granada to see the Alhambra. A Moorish castle with an incredible history.

8....Malta: Again history upon history and a different way of life attract me to this island. As well as the fact that one son-in-law comes from Malta. His descriptions of lifestyle, culture and the food have painted a picture I would like to see in person.

9....Brasil: Another son-in-law hails from this country and what a lot there is to see there. The Amazon, Sao Paolo and the Tango...no need to say anymore.

10...Israel: Although I have been there twice, going back would be no hardship at all. I fell in love with the country. The different cultures all bundled into one little country are diverse and even in two visits I could not see enough.

11...Morocco: With its markets and colorful people, would be another Middle Eastern stop I would not want to miss.

12...Vietnam: I am interested to see the country that my brother spent two tours of duty in during the Vietnam war, when I was a young teenager.

13...America: Last but definitely not least. I want to meet for the first time, Friends that I write with and have gotten to know and love. They live all over America; Seattle, Pennsylvania, Utah, Illinois, Minnesota, California, Georgia. If ever I am so blessed as to make this trip, it will be a big one.

Happy TT! :)

  2. I'm with you all the way. Just let me pack my suitcase first. It seems our first stop should be Israel.

    Oh, if only.

  6. Hi Eaton! Thanks for visiting my blog earlier today.

Like you, I would love to visit England as a matter of heritage--my paternal g'father grew up in Walsall--and I would love to visit Sweden (right after my return to Norway!). I also dream of returning to France. Paris again, definitely, but also Provence and Normandy. And, of course, I'd love to see Australia some day. ;)

  7. I like your Feedjit thing. I had to go hunting for it as your sidebar appears at the bottom of my screen, but at least I can comment now! :)

  8. I love the idea of these Thursday 13 lists and love to think about traveling. :) Be sure to plan on stopping by Texas if you ever get to the US ....then we can hop in the car and go on a road trip to my other two favorite states, Arizona and Utah. You will see things there you can't see anywhere else in the world!
