A nuance of pain
indefinable in the
emptiness of
goodbye

Did we mirror each
other in the mutual
field of despair

No it was only my
desperate hope
that lingered in an
improbable moment

I searched but found
no sorrow in you

how sad

Silently I shed my tears
in a transcendent span of
pain

This is my final poem for the Poem a Day Challenge at Poetic Asides. I don't know if I'm sad or relieved. Perhaps a little of both. I'm so glad I completed the 30 days. There were days when it was really hard to get a poem done, all sorts of things cropped up. But my 30 poems are proof that when I am determined, look out!

To all of the people who read my poems and encouraged me, a great big thank you.

I'm going out of town for the next four days and I don't know what time I will have for writing and blogging...hopefully I'll be able to snatch some time from some where.

I have a poem to write
a sestina of all things
let me tell you Robert
I don't think so
in fact it's a no go
I've read what it takes
to write one of these
there isn't a hope no
none what so ever
not today or tomorrow
maybe never
I'm a free loving woman
free verse that is
no rules or complicated
format in me
if it needs an excel sheet
it's beyond my capability
seriously there is not a
hope that I will do this
not today or tomorrow
maybe never

International
phone
conversation
a misunderstanding
lovers continents apart
haven't seen each
other in months

he's in Sweden
she's in Tokyo

he called to tell her
he missed her
the call was a day late

she got mad as hell
didn't believe his flimsy
excuse

now he wants her back
she just might accept
who knows
maybe it would work

as long as he doesn't
call her

You stepped out of the
shadows
eyes cool
professional
your face a mask
of self protection

I saw through your
game of intimidation

your eyes said one thing
your body begged another

you were not immune to
the heat of the moment

as your hands closed
gently around my throat
and your words whispered
through my mind

I knew I hadn't
misunderstood
your true intention

traces of your scent
still fill my room
and
tomorrow
brings with it the
possibility of your return

Winter wraps colorless
hands around days
turning them dull and gray

wind rain and snow beat
against frigid nights
as nature shivers

the elements play out
against one another in
tiresome repetition

while thoughts of sun filled
days flutter impatiently
waiting


winter reluctantly draws
back its shroud as spring
unrolls its velvet cloak
reviving and renewing
all in its wake

rigid with decision

she: Why

feel the same

please we can work
it out

he: No
I don't love you anymore

he gave her all the reasons
hurt her to the quick

he: I'll take you home

she: turned and walked away

All I want is to close my eyes
and reach for you
then I wouldn't need to search
my dreams for your face

If I could feel your arms around
me and know you're there
sleep would cocoon me contentedly
in the dark

Let me snuggle into the contours
of your body and hear the soft
sigh of your breath on my skin
then I would know I am safe

I want reassurance
from your touch 

to chase away my ghosts

the first footstep on
foreign soil

in an Immigrant's

Day 15 Prompt: Change someone's poem

I chose a poem by Charles Bukowski, to change, poor Charles! I think I butchered it...heck, I know I butchered it. I added the link in the title of the original poem below. The original is worth a read if you have a moment or two.

Accompanied by Just Enough

the words cover the space
and they put a comma
in there and
sometimes a full stop,
and the men paste
consonants in blank spaces
and the women write too
much
and everybody forgets a
question mark
but keep on
searching
hunting in and out
of books.
words cover
the lines and the
page turns
into more than
a chapter.

there's every chance:
that a manuscript will be
printed into numerous
editions.

everybody always has
too many words.

the publisher is ready
the bookshop ready
the library ready
the bookshelves ready
the readers eyes ready

So we decided to call it quits
end this charade we call love
leave behind our sweet beginnings

chorus in our decision to be free
