Poem a day challenge...55 Flash Fiction Friday

This poem is my 55 and Poem a day offering. :)

Day 16 Prompt: Color
an invitation with promise
welcome to life's colorful
possibilities

work and wages
equality for all

pack your clothes
shed your tears
say your goodbyes

a dream forming on
the horizon

war and hunger's
devilish memories
dismissed
to be forgotten

new reality:
the first footstep on
foreign soil

many dazzling colors
in an Immigrant's
rainbow future

  6. I'm in an early American History class right now, and we've been discussing so many things about what has founded our country... and immigrants...

...they're a big ol' part of all that.

I am always imagining what it must have been like, and I think that you put these kinds of thoughts into a most exquisite li'l set of 55 words.

    A job well done, Eaton.

  7. The last stanza is what really makes an impact on me, the rainbow colors of an immigrant's future. There will be good and bad, bright and dark to come, but all wonderful in the long run. Great succinct imagery. E
