Haiku

softly, softly
falling gently on the roof
rain drops landing.

after midnight
sleep is calling out to dreamers
shy moon behind clouds.

Haiku

last leaves cling,
luminous in the night
full moon rising.

autumn's end
branches bare sentinels
ghostly gray.

*

ride the sky
queen of the heavens
golden moon.

are words ever lost
or do they drift the cosmos
unseen stars in flight

the disquiet of indecision...

into the crisp air
thoughts transport on the stillness
a perfect moment.

If I was to travel through time
what's the bet I would either be
too early or too late
miss you entirely-
a few seconds either way

not that time travel exists
everyone knows it doesn't
but if I could
how would I maneuver time
to arrive in your present?

I thought about it
tried the imaginary scenario on for size
it wasn't a comfortable fit
too much hope for a perfect moment
unstable in the unpredictable
possibility of disappointment

best to leave the ether
in the careful hands of God.

sweeps the sky with abstract strokes...
