Intimacy

Human emotion is sometimes so difficult to understand and live with. Do we really, ever understand what drives us on or holds us back in the pursuit of meaningful relationships. Whether it be parent to child, siblings, friends, teenage sweethearts, lovers or married couples; all good relationships experience some level of intimacy.

The following words give more insight into intimacy: closeness, friendship, familiarity, confidentiality, privacy, confidence, affection, love, warmth and understanding.

Sometimes fears rise up and keep us from experiencing the level of intimacy we are seeking...

Tender

Early morning light
Mouth moving over me
Breath, sighing on my flesh

Caress

Restless hands searching
Sparks ignite, burning
Already inflamed senses

Piercing

Intimacy revealed
Too much too soon
Nowhere to hide

Helpless

Emotions rise above lust
Mirrored in your eyes
The unforgivable--Love!

This is the first poem in a series of posts I'm planning on Friendship and Intimacy.

  1. Amazing, as always. Your grasp of the human condition is beautiful.
That last line, the unforgiveable--love' makes me think of my WTC and where they are headed.
    :) Love it!
So much wrapped up in such few words.

  3. Lovely, dear. I really like the idea of you taking a theme and expanding on it - like the many aspects of intimacy. Brilliant, and I'm sure you have so many more. Really enjoyed this - brief, but poignant. Well done!

  5. I'm red? Ooooh, I don't know about that.

    Your Hair Should Be Red
    Passionate, fiery, and sassy.
You're a total smart aleck who's got the biggest personality around.

  7. Considering the poem could have been about any kind of intimacy, I think you were very clear. It's a strong start. I'm looking forward to your other poems.
