55 Flash Fiction Friday - You can always see a stain...

the Adelaide Hills ~ not Blinman.

your energy lingers in
the whispers of washing day,
done on a bitter Monday.

stains washed clean
in a copper fired by kindling

your back bent to pick up sticks in this
forsaken place.

what happened to your fine white linen petticoats - when you died.

dust on dust - nothing more - much less.

~~

Blinman is a South Australian copper mining town. Desolate dessert country, hard on men women and children back in late 1800's. I've stood on open ground where there was once a house and now only a chimney. And wondered, what brought people to places like this where the isolation can destroy a human soul; or - strengthen it?

Have a wonderful weekend 55'ers. :))

  5. Excellent 55! Very touching. I always feel that if you can just be still enough in places like that, you can "hear" the past.

  7. It is a place. like most places where the hint of scent of them who trod on the land still lingers though it be a hundred years since their foot touched above the earth.

  9. I love this one..it's so fresh Eaton!! The image is quite similar to vegetaiton or its sparseness.. on Mauna Kea in particular. But can get pretty dry in other areas. Just enjoyed what this evokes here!

Anyway, so glad your writing and luv luv your visits! Also am glad the comment form was performing, ha. Have a wonderful day!!
