#1

I need to be clear
make sure you understand
have it exactly right

love is not a toy to be
played with, then
selfishly set aside

I don’t want to bruise you
with some foolish whimsy,
a by-product of my humanity

perhaps you already know
how much love a heart can
lose before it breaks

~~

#2

the sound and smell of the sea draw me
to the edge of something I can't name

restless, sleepless, in need of something

I watch the waves dance around my feet
mesmerized by the ebb and flow of
relentless return - wave after wave
imitating the sound of your flesh
brushing over mine in the dark hours
just before morning breaks in your eyes

The feel of salt air on my skin lingers like
your breath on my neck -
just before you kiss me

I know precisely what I need

you.

#3

I tore my words
into tiny pieces,
watched them float
to the ground.

Only you know if they
fell into your heart.

~~~
Love is many emotions, feelings, contradictions, torments and joys. Love that comes from God transcends all earthly love and is perfect.
Have a wonderful Monday and week.  :)
love,
Eaton
Eaton, each of these is a gem. I couldn't say that I like one more than the other, but the last really resonates. Appreciate your summary statement at the end. Fine work. Poem on ...
Too much loss can break a heart but it always has room for more love. May your heart burst with affection.
Most excellent penmanship Eaton. Much enjoyed. Like the first in particular, if only because it is laid into tercets (love those), though they are all fine pieces.
