weeds and wheat...

I want to write something revealing
bare the simplicity of all my complications.

apprehensions ride a tide of reservation--
revelation self-defeating.
with nothing in reserve
you might decide my offer is
not very appealing --
no ace left up my sleeve.

that in mind - I will preserve some of who
I really am, and present you with the
possibility of who I might be.

dishonest?
that depends.

safer by far to let you see the me I may be
securely secreting reality away from
the chance that I may just not be enough.

~~

Love,

Eaton.

  3. Wonderfully written, I do sometimes preserve who I really am in my mind...and present myself different in front of people in real life...and I can say you are seeing the true me right now;D

Wonderful once again and thank for sharing, happy poetry potluck day!^^~

  4. "...the simplicity of all my complications..." - I loved that so much.

It is such a risky business, isn't it, putting all of who we are on display and worrying it's not enough.

    The message is clear!
Read what you can, the rest will be remain a secret.. But what you've read may or may not be THE truth..
    Awesome!!!

  7. Well-expressed. I think living with the vision of who we might become is faith rather than deception. Nice poem.
